The Colorado Sound

The Colorado Sound got it’s start on KRFC (Fort Collins) in 2006.  In 2010 it went independent.  It is the most widely distributed and heard independent music program in the state, heard throughout the Northern Front Range (Denver-Fort Collins), the Roaring Fork Valley (Carbondale, Aspen, Glenwood Springs, Idaho Springs), the Wet Mountain Valley (Westcliffe), Pueblo, and Telluride.

Producer and host Chris K., aka “goat,” is no stranger to Colorado music and radio.  He has been on the air in Northern Colorado off and on since 1977, with on-air stints at KFKA-AM (AC), KUAD (CHR/AC), KSQI (AOR/AAA),  KCSU (Americana & Jazz),  KIMN (CHR/Hot AC), KPAW (classic rock), and  KGLL (country).

Chris’ articles, essays, criticisms, reviews, and editorials have appeared online and in local, regional and national music and radio publications like Scene Magazine, FMQB, the Album Network, GodsofMusic.com, Makeastar.com, C0nsensus.com, and the Colorado Music Buzz.

Chris K. has been a character in the music scene along the Front Range of Colorado in four decades now … and despite the grass he chews on regularly, he shows no signs of slowing down any time soon.

Please support the stations that support Colorado music.  What we have here is special in the nation.  Terrestrial radio is STILL the front-line of how we discover music.  It’s that important that we support our friends who bring this show to you.

FUNDING:  Please donate to the cause.  The stations that air this program do not pay for it.  Unlike NPR programming which costs the station A LOT, this show is provided for free on the condition that I can monetize it myself.   DONATE HERE

  9. Hi Chris! Dave Dougherty (Doc) here. I’m the guitarist from Papa Juke. Thanks for all you do for Colorado music. It’s a big deal to me. We are releasing our new CD next Saturday the 17th at the Colorado Feed & Grain. It’s called “Out of the Blues”. It’s a combination of core blues but then branches out to other forms while still retaining a bluesy feel It’s all original. I left you a copy in your mailbox yesterday. Hope you like it…enjoy.
